Congratulations, Rep. Harrell

HARRELL NAMED MOST EFFECTIVE FRESHMAN IN NC HOUSE

Ranking Marks Dramatic Turn-around in Effectiveness for District 41
Raleigh – Rep. Ty Harrell is the most effective first-term member or “freshman” in the North Carolina House of Representatives, according to the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research.
Harrell outpaced 68 other House members to rank 52nd in overall effectiveness in the 120-member House of Representatives, which reconvenes next month in Raleigh for the second year of the 2007- 08 session.
“Finding solutions to problems facing hard working people in my district and this state has been my focus in the legislature, and that focus will not fade.” Harrell said. Harrell won his seat in 2006 by defeating six-term Republican Russell Capps, who was ranked 117th in prior surveys by the policy center. This 65-point swing demonstrates to the people in District 41 they now have a representative who is working tirelessly for them.
Harrell is Vice-Chairman of the powerful Appropriations Sub-Committee on Transportation, and of the Science and Technology Committee. His leadership and effectiveness were praised by House leaders and veteran members.
“Rep. Harrell tackles the tough issues in a well thought-out way,” said House Speaker Joe Hackney. “He is a rising star in the General Assembly and I’m not surprised by his high ranking.”
