NCSCSW Board recognizes 2008 Clinical Social Workers of the Year

This year the NCSCSW Board voted to recognize two members and have selected Connie Margolin and Elinor Williams as the 2008 Clinical Social Workers of the Year. Connie and Elinor were the catalyst in the formation of the NCSCSW chapter of the Clinical Social Work Federation (now the Clinical Social Work Association). Elinor, a recent MSW grad, was employed at the Duke Counseling and Psychological Services in 1978. Connie, a recent transplant from Connecticut where she had been President of the Connecticut Society and Secretary of the Federation, was her supervisor. With Connie's experience at the Federation level and Elinor's extensive North Carolina connections, they organized a meeting of clinical social workers from around the state. This resulted in the formation of the NCSCSW the following year. Elinor was the first Program Chair and President in 1981-82. Over the years they have provided organization, support, and mentoring. Currently, both are in private practice, active on community boards, and busy with family care issues. They remain mentors and teachers for clinical social workers. For their founding roles with NCSCSW and their 30 years of service, they richly deserve our recognition and gratitude. Thank you, Connie and Elinor.

We will plan to recognize Connie and Elinor at the beginning of the Annual Ethics conference on April 12.
