Rep Martha Alexander has received the 2008 Legislative Advocate of the Year Award from NC PACE. Rep. Alexander has been a tireless champion for parity for mental health in NC. In the 2007 session, after 15 years, the NC General Assembly passed its first parity legislation.
Rep. Alexander has also been instrumental in other important legislation to Social Workers, such as the ban on corporal punishment in public schools and the anti-bullying bill for marginalized students in public schools.
