UNEMPLOYMENT: North Carolina's unemployment rate reached 5 percent in February, according to the Employment Security Commission. December 2005 was the last time the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate hit 5 percent. Seasonally adjusted unemployment was at 4.9 percent in January and 4.5 percent in February 2007.
